Duchess of Dirt Column in the Comox Valley Record

As the Duchess of Dirt, I write a regular gardening column for one of our local newspapers…the Comox Valley Record.
My column has been appearing in the newspaper since March 24, 2004…first as a seasonal monthly column from March to July. A change the following year saw my column appear every month throughout the entire year. And early into 2006 my column began appearing every second week year round.
Another New Tomato in Our Garden

The other day I wrote about my new favourite tomato…’Snow White’. Wonderful taste for a yellow tomato! Like I said in my last blog entry…even John is super impressed with this variety of yellow cherry tomato.
Today’s blog I want to mention another new-to-us variety we are growing this year…’Oxheart’. The seedling was a gift from friends when we visited their garden last spring.
Website Celebrating Two Years!

Holy Cow! Hard to believe my Duchess of Dirt website was launched two years ago today. And yet…so much has happened in that two years.
Thinking back to “The Launch Day”, it happened on the day we were having a family gathering at my sister’s in Duncan. I took my laptop and can remember being so excited showing off the webpages to various family members. My parents were so impressed.
Hard to believe they are both gone now. They seemed so vibrant that day. God, I miss them so much.
