Introducing our newest grandson, Linden Jack Harrison.

Born on Saturday, July 5th to our youngest son, Mark Harrison and his girlfriend, Cassie Marshall. A little bit early but wonderfully healthy. And incredibly beautiful.

Grandchildren are marvellous! We get to enjoy these little ones without the pressure of parenting. Oh, sure. There are still rules at Grandma and Grandpa’s house…and, as always, kids will stretch their boundaries.

But it is not quite the same as it was when we were raising our kids. For one thing, the grandchildren are not here 24/7. They go home to their parents and we get our lives back. Peace and quiet reign supreme once again.

Secondly, I find myself revelling in my grandchildren’s sense of wonder even more than I did with my children. Maybe because now I, myself have more time to devote to exploring and playing with the grandchildren than I ever did when my children were young. Or more to the point…I make the time to explore now.

However, the most precious thing about grandchildren are not just the new memories they inspire. The younger generation tickles a revival of old memories of watching their parents growing up.
