Did you know…

… a single watermelon sold for $6,125 USD?

In 2008, a man in Japan bought a 7.7 kg (17 lb) Densuke watermelon at auction for 650,000 yen or $6,125.

This special kind of watermelon is only grown on the island of Hokkaido and has a different kind of sweetness than the watermelon we are used to eating. They are difficult to grow and do not produce a high yield which is why the melons are sold at auction every year.

One of the two newly fledged baby robin chicks hanging out in our garden right now.

Having cared for and raised an injured unfledged baby robin many years ago, I have a special affinity towards this particular bird species.
