Quote of the Week

by Leslie Cox; Sunday; June 9, 2024

“A garden should make you feel you’ve entered privileged space –
a place not just set apart but reverberant –
and it seems to me that, to achieve this, the gardener must put
some kind of twist on the existing landscape,
turn its prose into something nearer poetry.”

~ Michael Pollan,
Second Nature: A Gardener’s Education

Quote of the Week

by Leslie Cox; Sunday; April 14, 2024

April

An altered look about the hills;
A Tyrian light the village fills;
A wider sunrise in the dawn;
A deeper twilight on the lawn;
A print of a vermilion foot;
A purple finger on the slope;
A flippant fly upon the pane;
A spider at his trade again;
An added strut in chanticleer;
A flower expected everywhere.

~ Emily Dickinson,
Nature: April
