Foto Friday

Always a delight to see flower buds on a plant in January!

Our Viburnum x bodnantense ‘Dawn’ has masses of buds developing on its myriad of branches.
Soon they will be opening to provide an early treat of nectar for the hummingbirds, juncos,
sparrows and the host of other birds flitting in and out of our garden right now.

Another plant ID has been updated in the new format layout with a photo that is now working as it should when you click on it. I have also added a little more information pertinent to how this lovely shrub performs in our Zone 7a garden.

Teaser Tuesday

tree frog sighting

This photo is of a Pacific tree frog I spotted in the garden back in January 2019. The tree frog I found under the leaf mulch last week was even smaller than this guy and lacked the distinctive black stripe on the side of its head.

So far, I have been unable to determine at what growth stage the black eye band appears on young frogs but with no luck.

Welcome!
