One tree can remove 26 lb (11.8 kg) of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere annually, equal to driving a car for a distance of 11,000 miles (17,703 km).

Landscape plants…trees, shrubs, perennials and annuals…can also remove smoke, dust and other pollutants from the surrounding air. One study revealed that one acre (0.4 hectare) of trees can remove as much as 13 US tons (11.8 tonnes) of particles and gases annually.
