With all the wet weather we have had through November and December, we are seeing an abundance of fungi species on our forest walks such as this grouping of Phellodon tomentosus.
It is one of the tooth species of fungi, commonly called “woolly tooth”. Some other common names are zoned cork hyndum and cork phellodon. When seen in a grouping such as in the photo above, they are often called “owl-eyes”.
