This tree is called “Big Tree”…a magnificent example of an old growth Douglas Fir. It resides in McMillan Bloedel Provincial Park – Cathedral Grove on the Port Alberni Highway.

As of this date, Big Tree is 826 years old and over 76 metres (250 feet) tall…and it is still growing. Sadie is posed on a fallen log in front to give some scale to the true majesty of this natural wonder.
