Description

An herbaceous, upright, clump-forming, rhizomatous perennial with a slowly spreading habit. Fresh shoots in an eye-catching shrimp-pink colour emerge in spring, with the elliptic leaves forming in whorls of three and four up the stems, gradually turning a variegated colour of cream and green as they mature. Masses of yellow, upward facing flowers form in whorls of threes and fives up the stems from mid-summer through to September.

This plant species is not nearly as invasive as the green-leaved, purple flowered variety especially if you plant it in poorer soil. No need to fertilize this plant and even starving it of water periodically helps to keep it under control.

Good pest and disease resistance. Attracts butterflies.
