This week’s word is “cambria”, pronounced KAM-bri-ka.

Cambria is an ancient name for Wales. So, when this word is used in a plant name, such as Meconopsis cambrica, this tells us the plant is native to Wales.

This is why Meconopsis cambrica (also known as Papaver cambricum) is commonly known as the Welsh poppy.
