Did you know…

            …the very first Labour Day celebration in the world was held in Canada?

The first Canadian parade for workers’ rights was held in Toronto on April 15, 1872. The first Labour Day holiday did not happen in the United States until a little more than ten years later, on  September 5, 1882 in New York City.

A new visitor to our garden. John found this guy in the Physocarpus opulifolius Diablo®…or ninebark. Just hanging around like it is in the photo.

As near as we have been able to determine, this is the larval stage of a species of the Pachysphinx moth. Pretty soon it will drop down to the ground and burrow into the soil where it will pupate through the winter months.

Did you know…

                   …a slug has approximately 27,000 teeth! That is more teeth than a shark who only has up to 300
teeth…depending on the shark species.

And like sharks, slugs do lose a tooth occasionally, but quickly grow another one to replace the one they lost.
