Description: An open-pollinated, indeterminate vine. Bright red, medium-sized fruits.

 

Special Notes: Originally, this variety was an F1 hybrid. However, through consistent seed selection from uniform plants, a reliable open-pollinated version has been produced. An early producer with good yield from beginning of summer through until frost.

Description: A semi-determinate, F1 hybrid tomato. Good yield of 8 – 10 oz (227 – 283 gm) of firm, flavourful, bright red fruits.

 

Special Notes: One of the early-producing tomato varieties. Bred by Colen Wyatt of PetoSeed, which is now a subsidiary of Seminis Seeds. Easy to grow. Good resistance to Tomato Mosaic Virus (TMV), Verticillium Wilt (VW), Fusarium Wilt Races 1 & 2 (FW), root knot nematodes, cracking, leaf spot, and stemphylium alternaria stem canker.

 

Awards: 1984 All-American Selection (AAS)

Tomato ‘Yellow Pear’

Description: An open-pollinated, heirloom tomato. Miniature pear-shaped fruits are 1 – 2 inches (2.5 – 5 cm) in size, gathered in abundant clusters up the plant. Thick skins means they are quite crack resistant. Low in Acid but deliciously sweet flavour.

 

Special Notes: Originated in Europe sometime in the 1700s. There are also orange and red varieties of the pear-type, or teardrop, tomato. The yellow variety was one of the vegetables grown when the seven acres owned by the Hudson’s Bay Company at Fort Vancouver was converted to a vegetable farm in 1825, after the Company had stopped operating as a fur trading centre.

Description: An open-pollinated, heirloom tomato. Determinate, bush-type plant to about 24 in (60 cm) tall. Unique, finely dissected foliage is silvery-grey in colour. Somewhat squat fruits are 3 – 4 in (7.5 – 10 cm) in diameter. Taste is sweet and tangy.

 

Special Notes: Originally from Russia, this tomato was introduced in 1995 by the Seed Savers International. This is a tough plant; it will produce good yield even in cooler, rainy years. Good disease resistance. Good fruit production. Recommend supporting the plant with a tomato cage or stake.
