Description

An herbaceous perennial with a dense, mounding habit. Leaf blades are 8-inches (20 cm) long by 6-inches (15 cm) wide and of good substance. Emerging leaf colour is chartreuse changing to yellow, then ivory; leaf edge is widely margined in dark blue-green. Of interest are the occasional thin silver-white flecks along the line where the centre and the margin meet. A dense raceme of funnel-like, lavender-pink flowers, which open from rich violet-coloured buds, appear atop an upright 28-inch (70 cm) tall scape in mid-summer.

Sport of Hosta ‘Gold Standard’. Classified as a medium-sized hosta with a moderate growth rate. Careful placement in the garden is essential to achieve the best colour effect in the leaves. More morning sun produces more variations in the leaf colouring.

Early releases of this hosta exhibited only a few white flecks along the central junction. Later releases often show the white flecks running nearly all the way around the leaf blade.

Slugs and snails may be a problem as leaf tips appear in spring. Deer and rabbits may nibble on leaves. Attracts bees and hummingbirds.
